The best known, the 2004 \"Crashocaster\", was built by Fender Master Builder Todd Krause, played by Clapton at the 2004 Crossroads Guitar Festival, and sold at auction later that year for $321,100. Three Vintage Noiseless pickups work with Clapton's active circuitry, a master TBX tone control and up to 25dB of mid boost, to cover everything from glassy clean tones to the thick, singing lead sound he is known for.
