2023 Fender Eric Clapton CRASH Stratocaster, Crossroads Guitar Festival Limited Edition
This 2023 Fender Eric Clapton CRASH Stratocaster is one of only 60 made for Guitar Center's Crossroads Collection, created with Eric Clapton to mark 25 years of the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Its artwork is inspired by New York street artist John "Crash" Matos, whose graffiti-painted Strats Clapton has played since the mid-90s, and a portion of the proceeds from the collection went to the Crossroads Centre Antigua.
The Crash Story
Crash first painted a Stratocaster for Clapton in 1996, followed by another in 2001. The best known, the 2004 "Crashocaster", was built by Fender Master Builder Todd Krause, played by Clapton at the 2004 Crossroads Guitar Festival, and sold at auction later that year for $321,100. This limited edition brings that look back for the festival's 25th anniversary, with Crash-inspired artwork front and back and a matching painted turquoise pickguard.
Tone & Construction
Built in Fender's Corona, California factory to Clapton's signature spec, it pairs an alder body with a soft V maple neck and a 9.5" radius maple fingerboard. Three Vintage Noiseless pickups work with Clapton's active circuitry, a master TBX tone control and up to 25dB of mid boost, to cover everything from glassy clean tones to the thick, singing lead sound he is known for. The American Vintage synchronised tremolo comes blocked, as Clapton prefers.
Condition
As new, in collector's condition. Supplied with its Fender hardshell case.
