2006 Martin 000-ECHF Bellezza Bianca, Eric Clapton & Hiroshi Fujiwara Limited Edition
This 2006 Martin 000-ECHF Bellezza Bianca is one of only 410 made, designed by Eric Clapton with his friend, the Japanese designer and musician Hiroshi Fujiwara. Its name means "white beauty" in Italian, and it was the follow-up to the all-black Bellezza Nera, finished in gloss white nitrocellulose with striking black and pearl appointments. The label is signed by Eric Clapton, Hiroshi Fujiwara, C.F. Martin IV and Martin's Dick Boak.
The Bellezza Story
Clapton and Fujiwara first collaborated on the Bellezza Nera in 2004, a black 000 limited to 476 guitars. The Bellezza Bianca followed in 2006 as its sister instrument, reversing the colour scheme in white. It was the fifth limited-edition Clapton Martin, and with only 410 built it is the rarer of the pair.
Tone & Construction
A solid Engelmann spruce top with scalloped bracing sits over solid big leaf flamed maple back and sides, giving a clear, focused voice with quick response and excellent note separation, perfectly suited to fingerstyle and the 000 body's balanced projection. The mahogany neck has a modified V profile with a diamond volute and a 24.9" scale, joined with a traditional dovetail.
Appointments & Case
The bound ebony fingerboard carries pearl inlays, with "Bellezza Bianca" inlaid in mother-of-pearl at the end of the board. The ebony headplate features Martin's classic torch inlay in abalone and pearl, and the rosette is set with slotted abalone diamonds on a black ring. Ivoroid binding, an ebony bridge and a bone nut complete the look. It comes in its original white Martin hardshell case.
Condition
Good condition. Some signs of use but reasonable for the age of the instrument.
